For Earth’s Sake at The Great Green Barn presents Willow Frame Basket Course
with tutor Linda Mills at the Great Green Barn
DATE & TIME Friday 4 April 2025: 10am - 4pm Price*: £85 per person, Optional Lunch £7
Make a willow frame basket using Somerset willow on Friday 4 April. These small baskets are ideal for collecting eggs, carrying small items such as secataurs and twine for gardening, for foraging hedgerows or gathering soft fruits from the garden.
The baskets are made of naturally coloured varieties of Somerset willow; the willow will have been expertly processed for your baskets by our fabulous tutor, Linda MIlls.
Our Tutor Linda Mills has been working with willow for 20 years since a first taster day at West Dean College in 2004. She creates wreaths, baskets and sculptures using some of the 350 varieties of willow. The ones used are grown in Somerset, Dorset and Hampshire.
Linda has been teaching workshops since 2013 when she first became a full-time basket maker.
Participant Information Each workshop is limited to 6 participants. The course lasts for six hours including a break for lunch - please see refreshments below. Whilst the workshop is inside the Great Green Barn, participants are advised to wear suitable layered clothing that you don’t mind getting grubby. Please wear closed shoes. Please bring your own secateurs, though other tools will be provided.
Refreshments Teas, coffees and water are included in the ticket price. Please bring a packed lunch for the mid-course break. An alternative optional vegetarian lunch of a slice of warmed Greek Spinach and Feta pie and salad is available to pre-order at £7. Please let the Great Green Barn know if you have any special dietary requirements.
