For Earth’s Sake at The Great Green Barn presents Everlasting Willow Christmas
Wreath Making Class
with tutor Linda Mills at the Great Green Barn
DATE & TIME Friday 29 November: 10am - Noon Price*: £45 per person
The festive spirit will be alive and well at our Everlasting Willow Christmas Wreath class.
Wreaths are made with a white willow base, then different naturally coloured varieties are added. Natural fabric ribbons made from hessian, linen or jute are used together with raffia and Nutscene jute twine. The wreath then can be embellished with foliage and other natural materials - which if removed after the festive season allows for the willow part of the wreath to be used repeatedly, year-on-year.
Our Tutor Linda Mills has been working with willow for 20 years since a first taster day at West Dean College in 2004. She creates wreaths, baskets and sculptures using some of the 350 varieties of willow. The ones used are grown in Somerset, Dorset and Hampshire.
Linda has been teaching workshops since 2013 when she first became a full-time basket maker.
