An Exquisite Harmony (23 March), explores the lives, loves, and music of Robert Schumann, his wife Clara, celebrated across Europe as a virtuoso concert pianisthis virtuoso pianist, and the young Johannes Brahms, who supported Clara after Robert’s tragic decline. Their story, filled with speculation, inspired Clara’s description of their relationship as “an exquisite harmony of souls".

In the latest of their acclaimed collaborations, actor Christopher Kent and classical pianist Gamal Khamis are joined by actress Sarah Sherborne for the compelling and moving story of one of music’s great love triangles, told through the diaries, letters and sublime music of all three composers.

Following the performance and interval, Christopher, Sarah and Gamal will join a Q&A session hosted by Peter White, composer, conductor and former Director of Music at the Royal Grammar School, Guildford, about how this fascinating piece came about, and performing this fabulous play.

Christopher Kent has appeared on stage, screen and radio in a wide range of roles from Shakespeare to contemporary drama. London theatre appearances have included Cyrano de Bergerac with Robert Lindsay at the Theatre Royal Haymarket and The Government Inspector with Timothy Spall at Greenwich Theatre. Live performances of epic story-telling and poetry have been widely acclaimed.  Christopher is also one of the UK's leading voice actors and is regularly heard on commercials, documentaries, film trailers and literary recordings.
Sarah Sherborne‘s extensive TV appearances include Birds of a Feather (ITV), House of Elliot (BBC), ‘Allo ‘Allo (BBC) and Goodbye Mr Chips (BBC) and she has appeared widely on stage, with seasons at Derby, Colchester, Nottingham, Cheltenham and Bristol Old Vic.
Her voice is familiar from countless audiobook, commercial and documentary recordings including narration for the current Empire Builders series on Sky History.
Described by The Times as a pianist with "formidable keyboard skills", Gamal Khamis first performed at the Wigmore Hall at the age of ten, and he has since appeared at Carnegie Hall, Queen Elizabeth Hall and Sage Gateshead, as well as all over Europe, USA, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. Peter White will be hosting a Q&A session after the show and interval:  Peter White studied music at New College, Oxford, starting his teaching career in North Yorkshire where he founded the Ryedale Festival. He moved to Guildford in the 1980s to become Director of Music at the Royal Grammar School and quickly became involved in local music making. In addition to conducting several local chamber choirs, he was assistant conductor of the Guildford Philharmonic Chorus and Musical Director of Guildford Opera for several years. In the 1990s he founded and conducted Loseley Opera. Peter remains a busy composer and recent commissions have come from Sophie Langdon, The Chichester Singers, and Trinity Boys’ Choir.
